I have a thing for Texas and I’m not really sure why. I’ve never lived in Texas, and I’ve spent very little time visiting the state. But for some reason I like Texas. I have a romanticized image of myself living out on a big ranch with nothing around me for miles and miles. Warm air. No noise…I could do a lot of embroidery without any interruptions.
I think I might like Texas because I have the good personal associations with the state of Texas. One of my favorite people in the world is from Texas: my good friend Tammy from college. One day freshman year, I borrowed her Texas sweatshirt and received “hook ’em horns” greetings all day around campus. It took me almost the entire day to figure out what was going on.
So for my next venture into digitizing state iconography, I decided to digitize the Longhorn symbol representing the state of Texas. I thought this would look great as an appliqué design or as a outline embroidery design on clothing or accessories or even home decor.
Texas folks- let me know what you think! Here is the test stitching of the Longhorn appliqué design.
