Hello! Thanks for visiting Machine Embroidery Geek website. My name is Julie and I am a real machine embroidery geek! My mission is to inspire and educate machine embroidery enthusiasts – from the absolute beginners to the embroidery business owners!
Why machine embroidery?
I’ve been sewing all my life. In fact, I even hold a Masters of Arts in apparel design (as well as a BS in civil engineering and an MFA in design)! But once I learned about machine embroidery, I became obsessed.
Machine embroidery is very exciting to me because it combines my love of sewing with textile design and technology. I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember. But, machine embroidery provides an opportunity to use my technical and design skills to create truly unique apparel and accessories.
How this blog got started
I’ve been thinking and writing about machine embroidery a LOOOONG TIME. I initially launched the blog in 2010, really kicked it into high gear in 2013 when I made one crazy New Year’s Resolution.
On January 1st, 2013, I made a commitment to blog every day about some topic related to machine embroidery. I had been wanting to learn more about digitizing and embroidery so I thought – what better way to learn? It was a quite a journey, I learned (and wrote) A LOT.
How this blog has grown
My outcome was even better than I expected. The blog enabled me to launch a line of machine embroidery designs, and got me a gig writing for Creative Machine Embroidery Magazine. and Sew News. This experience proved that when you have to write something every day… you do learn A LOT.
In the past few years, I’ve also had the privilege to work with DIME – Designs in Machine Embroidery as well as John Deer’s Embroidery Legacy. And, I’ve been featured by major brands such as Redfin Real Estate.
Free machine embroidery designs
From time to time I post a free embroidery design, set of instructions, or a PDF pattern. To access those goodies, simply subscribe to the blog and then you will receive a link to my resource library where you can download them. I have the embroidery designs all set up in a bunch of different formats, so you should find one that works for you.
